Merry Christmas to all first !
After swapping and testing numerous integrated tube amps (the list is long...), I finally settled for a beautiful Fisher 400. The question is now, which speakers???
LS3/5a, JR149, KEF LS50 and ATC SCM11s are receiving rave reviews but these like to be paired with powerful amps.
I was wondering if one you guys are running one of this configuration. I am specially interested in the ATC SCM11s. I am also open to any other bookshelf speakers recommendations. Thank you for any feedback !

Would be interesting to know which speakers you were using to audition the amps and what you like about the combination and what you feel could be improved. Also, what type of music you prefer.

Do you intend to place on shelves or on dedicated stands and how much space do you have - near to wall, free space?

You will need something fairly sensitive and suited to lower power valve amps. Worth considering maintaining the vintage theme, perhaps Snell type K or J would be a good match.

Did some googling - this may be of interest https://classicreceivers.com/fisher-400    http://hudsonvalleyhifi.com/fisher-400-receiver   https://antiqueradio.org/Fisher400Receiver.htm   https://www.manualslib.com/manual/992319/Fisher-400.html?page=10#manual   https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1004294/Fisher-400.html?page=17#manual

i could not find the RMS rating of the amp .. the LS35As are probably ok (and Jr149s) but I would suspect that it would struggle with ATCs .. personal view is you need a speaker that is capable of being driven by a low wattage amp (something in the region of 90db efficiency or greater) but I could be wrong .. suck it and see I guess is the answer

Enjoy

The Fisher seems to use 7868 valves in a fairly standard push-pull circuit, so I'd expect around 25 to 30 watts per channel at a guess. Things like LS3/5a would be ideal, but so would any of a load of speakers that work well with PP valve amps. Personally, I'd avoid anything that is suggested to work well with higher-powered solid state amps, in this case definitely the ATCs. Great speakers, but not ideal for moderate power valve amps.

The 'suitable' list is massive, but Harbeths and Audio Note are obvious contenders.
