I only listened to it for 10 minutes before stopping. Then I deleted the file from my PC. Piazzolla is one of my favourites but this effort will turn anyone off who comes to Piazzolla for the first time.
yes there is some shockers especially in the classical lot getting in to other non classical, i used to work on the cruise ships for a couple of years we had a regular latin night but also a national dance champion dance couple, but from i think brazil or argentian or somewhere that did authentic piazzola tango , and it was a fantastic thing to watch its a dance like no other, we played some tricky charts, but we could all play and we had to really owrk hard to get things in good order, etc,, and then i hear posh classical pianist or fiddle players reading parts and trying to play the songs, i havent in all honesty head a single one ever really get even close, , but thats just my opinion, etc, nigal kennedy and his funny rock folk also comes to mind, ?? we had a russian and greek nights as well, all distinct styles all needed, playing propperly,

I can imagine.

Very similar...... There are few things sadder than opera singers trying to do musical theatre.
Clueless. Truly awful.
But there seems to be a lot of money in it.

yes in deed i got that recording , a bit of a mess at times, yes,, anyway listenning to a solo double bassist tonight well i was trying to this thing track one is a horror , yes its a big reverberant room but i wonder what the hell the engineers were using to master , maybe a old radio gram thing because at reasonable house levels, track on in parts the bass sound , well its just boom and boom, actually sounds like the recording is hitting the top of the scale and then some auto compression is going on , and the very last couple of bars and end notes of the track one recording some strange, reveb auto gain thing?? surley its not right , but there you go if its recorded in the machines and every one is away , before you notice what you going to do ?? its on bynamic records , label, cds 210 giovanni bottesinsi with ovidiu badila on bouble bass, other tracks or ok, , i do like the open easy recoding and honest sound etc, of most of the rest of the thing,. but tracks one is a disaster, any one go tany input , regards rich,. i do have a basi set up and rather larger boomey old sony speakers, but most things sound perfectly fine, on them, .

Quite a lot of astonishing pianism here, recorded live at the semi finals of the Cliburn competition.

Particularly recommended for @Nopiano
Thanks, Jerry, I actually heard the live relay from the competition. It was literally unbelievable. It seemed like an impossible programme at the time, but it was stunning.
I heard this recording when it was first released too.

I have watched the final round on YouTube a few times, adding to the 13 million views it’s already had. And have bought tickets to see him at the RFH next March with Petrenko/RPO.

Comparing versions of Lohengrin on YT. This is a good one.

This has recently become my favourite, usurping "Tristan & Isolde". I took a CD-R of it to the WAM show and played it on a few systems to gain perspective of my own system. @Wenge1 kindly played it on his Caspian M2/Linn Klimax/Kudos system and it sounded superb, similar to my own(except my soundstage is deeper due to Qutest).
It is by New York Philharmonic /Giuseppe Sinopoli from
"Twilight of the Gods" (Essential Wagner Collection) DG 459 141-2
I have yet to hear a better recording...........
