We are pleased to announce that we have made good progress with arrangements for the show and have selected a new (to us) hotel for the show.

Sorry for the late update but we have been haggling hard as well as trying to get the hotel to understand what we are all about.

The venue we have chosen is in the midlands and in a central location - chosen so other hotel options are easily available for visitors should they wish to stay over.

The 2022 Wam show will be on 1st and 2nd October with the traditional format: a Saturday set up, public visiting on the Sunday between 10 am and 5 pm. Sunday night is optional for the curry fans!

At present we plan on there being a cost per room plus cover for public liability insurance. Extras will be the Saturday evening dinner and Sunday / Monday breakfast all at a fixed cost per person, we will need to pre-book these near to the time but pricing will be very reasonable. Sorry, no cupcakes!

A draft contract has been shared between the 2 parties and we will be meeting with Rachel and Roo on Sunday 13th, if we are all happy a deposit will be paid to secure the booking and another more detailed announcement will be made then.

Hopefully, you appreciate that this has been a massive exercise by the team involving lots of calls, driving miles making a large number of visits and some tough negotiations. Our team has already visited the hotel, the 2nd time with Rachel and Roo and we believe it will suit members well, plus we are keen that the hotel will welcome us back next year.

Long live the Wam

First timer. In fact, I joined the forum on the recommendation of someone else when I said I was seeking out a British audiophile community that did meet-ups - though he said obviously because of COVID nothing's gone on for the past 1-2 years but to keep my eyes peeled.

So how does the Wam Show work? Do I need a minimum post amount/time spent on the forum to be eligible for tagging along?

Also, if there's no such preliminary requirement, I'd be happy to show up and see what it's all about. But I wouldn't really have anything to bring or show around. Would that be okay?

For me the aim would be to socialise with like-minded folks with a shared enjoyment/passion towards things audio related. As well as experience all sorts of different audio offerings for purely hedonistic reasons. Then finally, to talk to experienced DIY'ers/get a first hand look at their speaker setups to ascertain whether certain technology or features are worth incorporating into the project I have in mind.

Assuming it follows the previous format, the show is open to the public - forum member or not.

Over 500 attended the last show and I am sure that most had exactly the same motivations as yourself. It is a very friendly and open environment and the range of systems on show - from budget to high end - are all demonstrated with the same enthusiasm and passion by their owners.

We have all waited a long time for this, not to be missed!

Well chaps and chapesses. I will definitely be coming to this. I was just going to come for the experience as a 1st timer wam-show-attendee. However, I am seriously thinking I may actually take a room.

Will likely be the kit in my Sig (which no one can see atm) which I bring, plus anything else "interesting" that I pick up in the interim. But yeah, it sounds pretty cool. I'm in.

Current kit and likely to bring at least some of this: Sugden A21a Signature, Cambridge 851n, Arcam D33 or heavily modded Jolida MK2 glass, Audiolab 6000CDT, Harbeth M30 (or pos C7 XD's if I've upgraded by this point).

It won't be hi-end compared to many setups most probably, but is my little slice of heaven and puts a massive smile on my face when I turn it on 👍

Great news it’s been sorted 👏. Unfortunately for me that’s slap bang in the middle of two weeks I have booked on the Isle of Skye 😩

Bugger.
