In my defence, they are old, knackered towels that would have been thrown out had I not given them a new purpose!

Having spent too long on another forum and neglecting others it is great to be reading about DIY fettling and repairs again!

Right, cones stuck to chassis! No picture today as, frankly, it doesn’t look any different to yesterday, apart from a handful of clothes pegs.

Nice job you've done there.
I have done some b&o 6000 bass mid cones before not an easy job takes alot of time.
Agreed. I don't find it a particularly difficult job, but it is fiddly and time-consuming. And often messy!

First candidate rebuilt, and united with a new tweeter that took a hell of a lot of finding.

“What was wrong with the original?” I hear you ask. I’ve no idea - when I took the grille off, it was missing and never did turn up!

It’s one of a pair of original 1960s Goodmans Maxims. They came from a friend’s late father’s collection of audio that I’m selling for her mum. They’re in good condition and the other works perfectly but this one had the surround unstuck from the woofer and the tweeter completely absent!

No-one knew why the tweeter was removed and it never turned up in his study so I had to search for a replacement. Took me a while to find but top man @dantheman91 came to my rescue!

Work has paused. I forgot gasket material for the midrange section, and the old stuff is about as healthy as the midrange surrounds were!
