Oh dear. Oh dear me. I really shouldn’t have done this.

I feel your pain. Really I do. The current review amp has been here for a few weeks now. Despite the fact that I can build stuff, I keep looking at things round the house and wondering how much I could get for them, then adding the total up. Worse, I'm trying to think how I could explain and justify. This is dangerious territory

The shiny cart?
Yes.

I reviewed it in my review system and it’s magnificent. Truly exceptional. And that should have been the end of it.

And then I thought “Haven’t got much on this evening, so I’ll just pop it into the SME on the Nakamichi and see how it sounds through the BL90s”

I really wish I hadn’t….

What’s the going rate for kidneys these days? Are you still not allowed to sell them on eBay?

Hi Adam.
Just arrived on my bench is a Beomaster1900.
Belongs to a friend who says it's been in his loft for years, he has little money and I wasn't planning on charging him.
Plug it in and it will fire up using any of the option buttons.
However once on it won't change to another selected input, or go into standby.
The tuner does not work at all.
The amplifier works but turn up the volume and you get a very definite 100Hz hum.
Given that I'm really busy just now installing a bathroom ready for Xmas, is this little number worth persuing?
Henry

Well it seemed so nice and I was armed with the circuit diagram.
Some 22uF and 10uF caps later and we have select functions and tuner working.
Definitely worth it.
Nice one Henry! Only just seen your post but, yes, worth the effort to fix.

It’s that quiet time between Christmas and New Year. Mrs. B is working today and tomorrow and will be away all next week, so what to do? I know, what about making a start on those “few” drive units in speakers that I have, which need re-foaming? Good plan!

So, I wandered up the garden to the workshop this morning for the “quick job” of removing them from their cabinets. Five and a bit hours later I have my first 2023 New Year Resolution - stop buying so many bloody speakers that need re-foaming!!

Haha,
bathroom mats, lovely and clean. I take it Mrs B has indeed gone to work? I can't speak for your house of course, but I'd get a rocket in a useful and currently functioning orifice if I repurposed our towels for that 😊
