In my view, one of the great soul albums of the 1970s, yet rarely mentioned. It is beautifully played by the Muscle Shoals guys, and the recording drips with soul: it has a warm, powerful bass, sympathetic drumming, and also some subtle percussion that will be lovingly revealed on a good system. Millie Jackson was a great singer who, unfortunately in my view, took the dollar later in her career by promoting sexuality over soul, but here, on this sublime recording, she has both, telling the tale of a mistress involved with a married man through the whole of this concept album.
