I don't suppose I'm the only one to have let go of something really special in my interminable box swapping.

There were the Gale 301s, delightfully vivid and open, which could sound magical on the end of something as humble as a Rogers Cadet. Not seen a pair for years.

Then there were those 15ohm Spendor LS3/5a s. The best, I recall of the various Rogers, Goodmans, Spendor, and Stirling LS3/5a I have owned.

And those Wellborne 45DRD monoblocs? A couple of watts, with a following wind. But a wonderfully luminous and mellifluous midrange that somehow made limited bass and roll-off treble seem immaterial. And when did I last see a pair of them?

Anyone else wish they had never let go of something?

I’ve only ever moved a couple of items on and generally not to replace them .. but the one pair of speakers I wish I had kept were my late uncles Tannoy Mayfairs..
I’ve still got most of the gear I brought over the last 50 years ..

My Snell K's had to move quickly and had nowhere to store them, best speaker I have ever owned by a long shot.

While searching for a stock photo, this popped up. If I didn’t have a decent turntable, I’d be after this in a shot. Only £1500 from a second hand Hifi dealer nearby 🤦‍♂️, but significantly more than I paid for mine some time after it was launched in 1964.

I am about to let go a Croft OTL 3 power amplifier which I know I will be very sad to leave . However it just does gel and work with my system and is just too good to leave doing nothing so it has to go .

My best contribution is actually a system.

Back in 80/82 I was touring less and working more 'regular' hours so I needed a home system. My guru of the day selected and installed a modest system for me.

It comprised a Dual 504/5? Nagoya MP11, Nad 3020, AR18s on Linn Kan Stands and a Sound Org table. Primitive, even by the standards of the day it was simply the most engaging and enjoyable system setup that I ever owned.

I 'upgraded' to a Planar 3 and Audiolab 8000 and the magic just disappeared. Took years and a lot of money to get it back.

Single item would have to be my original Electa Amators/

I've sold quite a bit of kit over the years, more so since joining the Wam! A lot of it I was simply moving sideways, so several regrets.

This was one, a Burmester 113 dac. Lovely sound, sense of space and plenty of drive.

The list is long but the one I regret the most is selling my Zu Druids. I would take them back in a heartbeat.

Linn Kans. I moved into a big flat and they were just too small. Actually, not just, by far. 😄

Sold them to a friend who needed some small speakers, I didn't even need the money. :(
