The 'boisterous' Western Terrace showed good humour.
The 'righteous' Lord's MCC lot seem to be bunch of old Blazers...

Wonderful to see Wood bowling like he does. The Ashington Flyer.
Looking forward to Manchester and another gripper.

I only live 3 miles away from Old Trafford and it's absolutely pouring down at the moment, and I fear that it will be for some time yet. Fingers crossed but not looking good, unless of course you're an Aussie.

If Saturday was bad, Sunday was even worse. I got up at 6.00am and it was pouring down and when I went to bed at 10.00pm it was still raining, it never stopped the entire day :(

To just rub salt into the wound, today it's glorious sunshine with blue skies, not a cloud to be seen anywhere. Oh well, that's Manchester for you. At least all we lost was a days cricket, how those poor Greek Islands could do with some of our weather right now.

Has there ever been a better cricket team than the West Indies in the 70's?
Andy Roberts' & Michael Holding's bowling was magnificent.
The batters weren't too bad either..
The new era of 'Bazball' is more entertaining that watching Geoffrey Boycott..

I was speaking of this the other day. It's been the first time I've watched alot of a test match for many years. It was competitive & entertaining.
I also thought of the old W.Indies tests and how I enjoyed the boisterous atmosphere & pace attack from the Windies side. Then I remembered Boycott who was often our only hope, and of going out all day and returning to find that he was still in, BUT had scored 26 😄
Am very pleased that England are carrying the baton of lifting test cricket & creating fresh interest. It was a fascinating test and I will tune in again. Shame that W.Indian cricket doesn't supply such quality and the heroes to compete these days though.

Mike Holding was my hero as a young aspiring bowler.
Never got anywhere near as good as 'Whispering Death' Mikey..

There's a lot of cricket now with the Hundred and T20.
It's had to adapt with these formats or risk dying out.
I remember some of the silly comments made about cricket when at school.
The machismo of football & rugby made us cricketers want to bowl 'em a beamer.
'Give em a short one' and then give 'em a Yorker - right up their block hole.
