They don't come on a velvet cushion sprinkled with fairy dust?.Shocking. I feel your pain 🤣

However, I suspect (alright, I know) that the off the reel belden, mogwami and many cheaper cables are what lurk under the bling jackets of many so called 'specialist' cables. Self appointed boutique cable assemblers do not have the funds to tool and manufacture their own unique core cables.
It came as a surprise to me that there’s a company who’ll supply boutique cables to a brand who can’t make their own.

If there was competition stalls nearby they could be accused of being

I'm not sure it's the earthing/ampage that makes a difference to the fancy cables.

Did I make a new word up there?
More new words for hifi chat please.
* The stereo is sounding fabalicious today Los. ;)
What do you think of these ? Piqued my interest. Nothing fancy but have a Foxy looking outer sheath.

I picked up a Micromark Multi-way plug (4 into 1 plug) for around £10 and 10 metres of Lapp mains cabling for £30 of which I will use 3-4 metres on the Multi plug and make up another 5 or 6 mains leads. I have a box of kettle leads with decent plugs so no costs there. It’s just good housekeeping for me.

I find it hard to believe that a metre or two of mains cabling would make a difference considering how far the power has to travel and the arduous route it takes to get to you.
YYMV etc.

I think that is a widely held belief, about all the wiring up to that point. Therefore how can the last metre do anything?

I believe there’s a counter argument (which I’m struggling to make adequately) along the lines of seeing the connecting lead as part of the amplifier system. A bit like seeing it in reverse, from the amp backwards, not from the electricity sub-station forwards.

Hopefully someone else will explain it better!

(When you lift the lid on most amps, and look at how the mains inlet is wired, it’s a bit like the insides of most speakers - disappointing!)

The last metre or so cannot improve anything, but it can potentially make things worse. Further, the fixed wiring installation has many beneficial characteristics that flexible wires with plug connectors do not.

I would never go mad with it though. There are a lot of 'foo' cables in my system, but they were all nailed together in my workshop from stuff acquired here and there at sensible prices. I would never spend big money, because there are other areas where spending would make a much bigger difference.

Wireless, noise-free power.

Static electricity isn't going to power anything, imho. I have been hit by lightening on several occasions while airborne. Aircraft have static wicks to dissipate the charge and damage is usually just a pin hole. Makes a substantial bang and has been known to disturb instrumentation. What was alarming was the discovery that lightening can travel several miles horizontally to zap you. CBs, or thunderstorms, can be 45,000' tall in the tropics. Well worth avoiding!

i have Audioquest NRG Z3 cables and a Wireworld star wired, non filtering distribution block. Most bought for previous equipment, so have no idea if beneficial to current upgraded kit.

However, a case for the prosecution. When the excellent Innuos Pulse arrived, I plugged it in using the supplied cable. Excellent sq From the gecko. A week later, I swapped to an AQ as above. And that sq took a hit. Didn't need to dwell and returned to the original. The Pulse has a Dr. Sean Jacobs designed LPS and proprietary mains filtering etc. must be some sort of mysterious clash which is beyond my pay grade. Luxman, however, supply their amps for the domestic market with a posh expensive mains cable.
