Tyneside town in song title shock!!

Recommended Posts

It occurred to me on the way to work today listening to Temple of the Dog, that a certain South Tyneside town is in more song titles than any other - is there some reason why people keep writing tributes to this town??

Examples-

Temple of the Dog - Say Hello to Hebburn

Zeppelin - Stairway to Hebburn

Dylan - Knockin` on Hebburn's Door

Talking Heads - Hebburn

Vangelis - Hebburn & Hell (the latter is obviously Sunderland:D)

Three Steps to Hebburn (must've been written in Jarrow or Pelaw)

and band names - Hebburn17.

What is going on??

"Hebburn...

Hebburn is a place...

A place where Nothing...

Nothing Ever happens..."

Local Knowledge or wot? Conclusive proof that Talking Heads must have played some of their early gigs in Dougie's Tavern!:shock::shock:

God, I'm bored of my drive to work: I spent about half an hour thinking up this one...

BTW, is it Old or Chipping? I've been meaning to ask for a while.
