Hi Paul,

I use a guy local to me in Berkshire, Ian Davies. He is based in Basingstoke....

He has serviced my M20's and repaired my very old MCD Pro CD player. Obviously you will need to ship them to him.

Another option is Wimslow Audio in Leicester. I haven't used them but they seem to have good reputation.

Good luck.

Cheers

Danny.

You can get test CDs that have tracks at the very start and end that can be used as a cleaner for the slide mech - basically program track 1 and track 99 on repeat and leave foe a few minutes. I've got one somewhere, but unfortunately don't know where it is :( (my house is full of boxes). I've found that has solved the problem in the past, and it's inexpensive.

I guess you could easily fudge one with a CDR, just stick 99 tracks of 45 seconds each on it and bob's your uncle.

now there's a thought, the fault is proving intermittent which makes me think it might be needing a lube (I'll say fnarr fnarr for freefallrob now), but a clean might work

only one issue with the CDR trick is that this player won't accept CDRs as it uses a proper mech not a CD-ROM, could try a CD-A as they are Red Book compliant, hmmm

Hi all. I have a Meridian 201 preamp. When I plug headphones into the amp I get sound from both the speakers and the headphones. I assumed plugging in the headphones would mute the speakers. Am I missing something???

not sure, BS had their own way of doing things and I suspect it may need a manual mute, manuals are here: http://www.meridian-audio.info/show.php?compid=168

I must confess that I used to have a 501V and that had a rear headphones socket (like I said BS ploughed their own path!) but cannot comment as I never even tried it as I have a valve headphone amp so used the tape out for that
