yeah, the SCM7's are £500, but even though they are small, you do seem to get a lot for your money, custom made drive units, afaik, made in UK etc.

and IMO they look nice as well.

yeah, i like to have some fun, the cheviots were lovely, if i had a larger room, i would have kept them, and i have had the Iris's for around half a year, i think they are keepers, mabye not for a 1st system in future years, but they make good party speakers ;)

if it were up to me i would have a whole room full of speakers :D and change every day :P

Interesting you should mention the SCM7s - I quite fancy a pair to replace the R3's in my second system.......

as far as i can remember 18mm, no idea what type, the wood was a freebie , and is actually slightly bent lol, they did look nice though, i did not finish them at all, and were sold to someone on the DIYAudio forum.

i was interested a while ago, and i found that Wilmslow Audio can do custom speaker cabinets, specifically a 7L ported one, full flat-pack in MDF or Plywood for £160, which is'nt bad considering its a one off :).

(thats not the new item BTW ;))

Thanks for that.

I have a mad plan to build one of the designs being discussed on DIYAudio.com at the moment- the Curvy Chang. Big though.
