Interested in these, l brought Mercury M20s from that auction site recently and they sound brilliant, open, airy, great bass and very musical:^.

Super Wammer

You can see the Plywood grain on the front baffle (reflex port image) so the baffle may well be, probably chipboard for the rest of it going by other Tannoys I have had of that age.

They're very good. I used to have a mate who owned a pair. Long time ago - 25 years probably. Remembered being really impressed with the bass peformance.

I still have my Tannoy Venus MkIIs, bought in the mid-80s (at a cost of £350 - the Jupiters would have been about £500, so what, about £2-3k in today's money?

They still sound good though the cabinets are pretty tatty now. Pretty sure the Venuses at least are particle board and the veneer is pretty thin. But a nice pair should wax up well.

EDIT just read the spec, the Jupiters are birch ply right enough.

If the wife would tolerate the Jupiters in the lounge I'd buy them.

£200 ffs. Someone buy them. I was seriously jealous of the guy that owned them at the time. Seriously. They were leagues better than my Mission 710s.
