The Wigwam Music Award

Why do we need anyone else to tell us who the stars of 2004/2005 have been? So i thought why dont we have our own!

First we need nominations, then a poll :)

Only rules are the Album must be released in either 2004 or 2005. You can nominate upto three albums each!

The top 8 nominated albums by this time next week go into the poll...

So lets be having them???

Hawk

PS Mine are

The Killers - Hot Fuss

Kasabian - Kasabian

and im still thinking about the third one ;)

I'm sure I'll come up with a different three tomorrow, but these are the recent releases I've enjoyed the most:

Arcade Fire - Funeral

Teenage Fanclub - Manmade

St Etienne - Tales from Turnpike Lane

I've recently bought LPs by The Killers, Bloc Party and Tom Waits, any of which could make their way on to my list. However, can't even play them as my LP12 is being serviced :(

I had overlooked Perpetuum Mobile - thought it was 2003 for some reason. An excellent choice, although my personal fave EN has to be Ende Neu.

Looks like we're heading for a Kasabian victory, though. :(

Still, anything but fucking Coldplay. :puke:

I can't think of any albums I bought this year that are worthy of an award.. had a couple of good ones last year, but sadly good NEW music is few and far between these days.

The new Robert Plant album is over hyped.

Coldplay are cunts.

Killers/Kaiser/Kasabian/Bravery all sound EXACTLY the same cos they all copied the same band.

The new Supergrass album is rubbish,

Belle and Sebastiens, Dear Catastrophe Waitress is v good, but it may have been last year.

I wish I could be upbeat about this but turgid bollox is my summing up of all of it.

I would nominate 'Superwolf' by Matt Sweeney & Bonnie Prince Billy as this year's best album. It is very good indeed. Also 'The Forgotten Arm' by Aimee Mann was a solid slice of quality songwriting.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of a third from this year.So I'll go for'All the Leaves are Gone' by Josephine Foster and the Supposed from last year.

Guest earl of sodbury

Wevie Stonder - "The Wooden Horse of Troy"

Mary Gauthier - "Mercy Now"

The Kills - "No, Wow"

mmm - no 2004, but not a bad year, and there's a few months left yet...

If Antony and the Johnsons weren't automatically excluded they'd have been in my top 3 - first timesince Roni Size/Raprezentthat something I liked got picked-up by the Mercury mob...

churz, eofs
