Random image of the day 3

Another one from sunny Scotland (Cape Wrath). I'm just finding my feet with the concept of the digital dark room - it's really hard to know when to stop messing with it and say 'it's done now'.

Smartphone cameras really are coming into their own.

I'm using my P20 Pro all the time, but didn't realise it could throw backgrounds out of focus like this. Is there a setting for that?

Edit: Ah yes, portrait mode. Sweet!

Another recent race photo from Knockhill BSB. This is a huge crop.

Very true re camera phones. Computational Photography - whether we like it or not - is here to stay and is only going to get better. I have got to thinking about the future of M43 (especially with Full Frame being 'in' at the moment) and what potential it could have when mated up with the best CP.

As to the P20, I'm a big fan of its monochrome mode - use the 'aperture' function and it really delivers.

That’s beautiful!  And on a HiFi theme, a few minutes ago I was reading about the new Dragonfly Cobalt DAC.  Quite a coincidence!

Just back from a cruise around the Baltic and working through my holiday photos. This is from the journey across the North Sea to our first stop in Copenhagen. The pic doesn't do it justice, it was a balmy day on a mill pond North Sea and the whole atmosphere was quite surreal.

This one is years old, but I discovered it when going through the files on an old phone before recycling it. The resolution is only 640x480, so I decided to accentuate it with some film grain effects.

Edit: would this image have been any more pleasing at 24MP? - Food for thought....

Tallinn Old Town is one of the best preserved Hanseatic town centres in the world, it is breathtaking but adjacent is a growing and thriving modern urban area. Close to the port these unfinished buildings will form part of an extended business and commercial centre with hotels and leisure facilities.
