Well yes!  The walls in my house transmit every tiny vibration straight upstairs and into the bedroom floor joists and then the floor.  The walls are very hard brick (they have granite chippings in them) and I can tell whether my wife is using a saucer or a plate on our kitchen worktop!  My speakers are on (homemade) Seismic type supports and don't transmit through the structure.  Airborne is a different matter.

Real world practical advice.  Take it or leave it.  I say take it.

Just been tidying my cables after the house rewire. Replaced and shortened the mains leads on my DIY mains cables, if you have such cables and are confident altering them, could think about shortening such leads to avoid coils of cable. Any non-special mains leads can be easily shortened and new plugs put on, have done this in my understairs cupboard (NAS (network device)

Also bought some cheap Velcro ties to help keep things tidy.

My bugbear is moving or replacing equipment and those shortened leads no longer reach!
