Exporting images for a Facebook Timeline

Recommended Posts

I've recently joined a local photo group and members meet up and share images on FB. Quite a few have Flickr accounts and we follow each other but for the community on FB which includes images, meet up arrangements and general chit chat rather than link Flickr people just upload images directly to FB.

I've loaded a few in recent days but my goodness the quality is awful - is that just FB compression or are there settings for Lightroom that would give reasonable results in anyone's experience ? I've shared phone snaps and what have you for years and they seem fine so a bit mystified as to why reasonable quality photography is crushed by FB.

Don't you cede copyright to facebook for images you post on it?

In essence no but anything you post on FB theoretically can be shared so can be saved and published elsewhere and there is no mechanism for you to grant permission. Any image on the internet can be screenshot or downloaded, there is little or nothing you can do to stop it happening.
