The Best Live Album. Ever.

Recommended Posts

So suggested as a thread. For me, a live album has to put me in the audience, lapping up the joy and the expression of the music as heard by the fans gathered to be entertained.

So my vote goes to Sam Cooke's One Night Live at the Harlem Square Club.

Just everything is right. Nothing like the Sam Cooke heard on studio recordings with their smooth, wonderful vocals. This is raw. More like gospel - maybe simply possessed with more of the soul of gospel music. Yet it's soul aimed at the heart. At love and at life in general.

Compelling.

A personal favourite. One man and a borrowed acoustic guitar. Devastating.

I’m not a huge fan of Live recordings, with the odd exception. Peter Gabriel’s Secret World double album is one always immediately  springs to mind. Wether it be CD, DVD, video, or in my case the Laserdisc enhances the experience. It brings back fond memories of the UP tour, front row at Wembley.

I tried to book some tickets for his upcoming gig at the Sage.

From: £81.80 - £130.00, Sod that! >:(.
