Not quite sure why you think meeting up with other people with a shared interest in audio equipment should be so horrendous (or why you're posting here if you do) but you are still left with the options of going to shops and shows to hear stuff.

Different realities there Martin .

Shared interest is one thing, but social gatherings are another. But I will go to Keiths one day as he is only up the road and take some cables :)

Theres options of reading forums, reading reviews, listening to video clips, going to shops, dealer demo's, using the CCR regs to buy and return items you dont like - lots of options...all which I have invoked, and bloody love where I have finally got too.

Sure you can go to these 'bake off' ordeals, but christ, I'd rather burn my eyes that do that,

There are Wammers, and there are arseholes - and this, my friends, is an arsehole.

Hey, you insulted the entire forum.  I just called you out on it, and now you're crying like a little girl.

And as an 'alleged' moderator it is your place to uphold rules and not use the language you have used except in the allowed areas i.e. The Pub Car Park

I'm not crying at all, I never do, but I like things to be balanced, there cant be rules for one, rules for another. Your friends get upset when the AUP is infringed, hence why I have had 'warning points' for much less than what you have posted on this thread, so I was offering some friendly advice as you have crossed the rules you pledged to uphold and support. That shows a weakness in character

For me, Im not one for social encounters where a great deal of variants are at play, which would mean its unlikely the correct 'worlds' would align for it to be enjoyable for me, so yes, I'd rather not go myself.

This is an extremely sexist and archaic insult - it dosen't bother me persay, but does show some true colours.

The thing that really distinguishes the Wigwam is the community and face-to-face get-togethers.  Many other audio forums are nothing but keyboard warriors flapping their stupid mouths.  If people can't respect that, they should consider if this is really the place for them.  But please, go ahead and complain about me.

I've no need to complain at all I just hope that you can understand that objectifying people is completely against the 'Wams' AUP which I've been advised to read by your very own team, which I took note of and have been on my better behaviour. So its almost like there are rules for one and rules for another, which dosent represent this 'community' element you speak of in your post very well.. I don't whine or report posts. You've made yourself shown to others, that effectively does its job in itself.

If you enjoy your get togethers thats awesome, I have a few of my own with people I've met on this forum and others, but I dont go to 'bake offs' with randoms for reasons mentioned earlier. Just not my thing, like the same way I would not go to a church ceremony or any form of religious gathering, I'd rather burn my eyes out than do that as well!

Again, your referring to fellow audiophiles as "randoms" seems to be contrarty to the ethos of the forum.  You have some weird views, and a pretty low-end system, but you feel your opinion is somehow important.  Why?

For me the chance of the YouTube route biasing even someone's auditioning shortlist in totally the wrong direction makes it worse than useless.

Out of curiosity I did just try recording a video of my own system using my phone and playing it back, both on my laptop and on my main system. I can't say it's really changed my view.

A lot of the videos though that are actually well produced, don't use phones. I generally ignore phone made videos, but a good example of a well produced video is the Pursuit Perfect team, they do good ones.

Personally, as a none rich person, I'd say a 15K hifi is a pretty expensive system myself and I spent a lot of time chopping and changing, doing deals to get to this point, it definitely wasn't born out of money.

Of course, there are others with more to spend and I respect that, but essentially what you have done have insulted half of the forum who's systems are, as you class, 'low end' , and thus their opinions are not important because of this.

Randoms, is a modern term, to people that you do not know personally. Common lingo these days.
