Righto - asking this here too - I'm having a shake-up of my study/third system. It's mainly a headphone rig and currently consists of:

Topping DX7s DAC & headphone amp/preamp
NAD D3045
Resolution Audio Opus 21 CDP
Monitor Audio Radius R90 speakers

(I've omitted the headphone details as I'm happy with that)

I mainly use Roon as the source/control. Anyway, it won't need to go very loud, but I'm looking for better quality from the speakers, I think they slightly let the side down at the moment when it comes to non-headphone listening.

Requirements:
Must be relatively small to fit on the desktop. Nothing higher than 29cm, nothing deeper than 23cm.
Must be happy against a wall.
Must sound good at low volume and very close to listener's head
Prefer an option to have it in white or light wood, although this is not imperative.

At the moment I have a range of speakers I'm looking at (the more expensive ones will need to be bought 2nd hand)
Dali Zensor 1, Menuet and Pico
Amphion Helium140 or Argon0 (or Ion+)
Neat Iota
Q Acoustics 3020

Anything I'm missing and any of the ones I've listed above that would really stand out from the rest, in the esteemed forum's opinion?

I've not heard any to recommend but your requirements seem to lend themselves towards small active studio monitors. This sort of thing:

https://www.gear4music.com/Recording-and-Computers/Genelec-8010A-Studio-Monitor-Dark-Grey-Single/X5S?origin=product-ads&campaign=PLA+Shop+-+GENERIC&adgroup=GENERIC&medium=vertical_search&network=google&merchant_id=1279443&product_id=42976d1&product_country=GB&product_partition_id=128409226879&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI3PvXhtWg4gIVbb7tCh0ugQpzEAQYASABEgKrUvD_BwE

As well as being intended to be used close to the listener, they also commonly have a specific output mode for use near walls.

Actually I realise I went smaller than I needed to there. These would fit your size requirements and have a reasonable reputation I believe:

https://www.gear4music.com/Recording-and-Computers/Adam-A5X-Active-Studio-Monitor-Single/MRA

There is one member here with Adam A5 speakers but I can't remember who I'm afraid. (Edit: I was thinking of @MGTOW )

You're probably not interested in this sort of thing at all but I think it's worth at least trying to hear something like this.

You are in effect looking for a nearfield monitor.  The LS35A was designed for that purpose.  It is vital you audition in a position where you will listen to them.

It is hard to recommend as I do not listen to Speakers as glorified headphones so to speak.

I would keep an open mind though and there are some designs out there that may just be the ticket but not loved by the hifi crowd but near field is a different proposition.

Well here are a few for you to consider

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ophidian-Minimo/153491790434?hash=item23bcd2da62:g:tBMAAOSwEgZc3Y8F  well they are the right colour

or even smaller https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/B-O-BANG-AND-OLUFSEN-BEOVOX-CX-50-SPEAKERS-ALUMINIUM-REF-19021807/223515269635?hash=item340a8c5a03:g:JFkAAOSw2-pc2rdt  or https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bang-Olufsen-B-O-BeoVOX-CX-50-Silver-Pair-Good-Sound-Recently-Recone/293087003571?hash=item443d58c3b3:g:OuAAAOSwWnhcYT7k

Good luck in your quest ..

I listened to both Dali Zensor 1 and Mentor Menuet at the dealers before I picked the latter. The Zensor 1 is larger than the Mentor Menuet and sounds slightly unrefined even when playing at high volumes. In other words, although the Mentor Menuet is dimensionally smaller, it is able to play louder than the Zensor 1 before the sound starts to break up ie. showing distortion.

The Mentor Menuet sounds mediocre placed against the wall. It will sound airier and more balanced when it is placed approximately 20 to 30cm from the wall. When placed against the wall, the bass sounds a bit odd.

Even though they were budget speakers and are now quite old do not over look a pair of Goodman Maxim II speakers . Thye perform to a level way beyond their price and you can easily pick up a pair for under £50 .

From your list, I’d go for the Neat Iota as you specify against a wall.  They are tiny, but with care can sound great. They have a ribbon-type tweeter which is way better than most domed designs. A few outlets sell seconds with minor cabinet defects, so I’d look there.  https://www.creative-audio.co.uk/HDLIST.php?HOTDEAL=NEA_IOTA_ST_BGR

The QA are easy to recommend because they’re enjoyable and smooth. But they are very deep, check the measurements, and are better with a bit of space around them. The 3020 has been superseded by the 3020i, and different finishes are often priced differently too.  I’d look at the Concept 20, which I think is a snip at under £300 from RS at the moment. (I suspect there might be a newer version on the way).  https://www.richersounds.com/hi-fi/standmount-speakers/q-acoustics-qa2625-concept-20-white-pr.html (also in black).

All that said, you really need to hear as many as you can first.  Your taste may be very different to mine!

Neats and QAs look ideal for near field listening.

Perhaps Ruark MRI MKII may also come into the equation.
