Avi Legacy Legendary Amplifier

Recommended Posts

Hello

i own the above mention amplifier and i am facing an issue. If its a real one.

While using its remote control (4 in 1) to adjust the volume, a small noise from the potensiometer motor is passing to the speakers.

When i am doing it manually i dont hear anythng.

Is this normal? If not do you guys have anything to suggest?

Regards

Hi,

Multiple suggestions :

  1. Do not adjust the volume, so there is no noise.
  2. Get orf your arse and adjust the volume - lose weight at the same time.
  3. Cover your ears when adjusting the volume by the remote control. May require another person to either cover your ears, or use the remote whilst you cover your ears.
  4. Ignore the sound, as it only happens when adjusting the volume.
  5. Get the amplifier examined by a qualified person.
  6. Use another amplifier.

Regards,

Shadders.

I don't know the amplifier in question, but some electrical noise (interference) from a motorized pot is not unusual IME. Basically, you've got an electric motor (which is a massive generator of EMI) right next to a sensitive, mainly unshielded part in the signal path. If it's relatively quiet and 'even' (i.e., a faint buzz and not bangs or crackling noises) I'd ignore it. Or as Shads says, get some exercise!

I was ready to sell it thats why i am asking.

Thanks for your replies and for your humor.

At the end i was so near the amp (and the speakers) which make me thought that the noise was coming from the speaker. I tried again and it seems that this small noise is coming directly from the amp and the motor it self.

Thanks again.

Regards

I have the AVI S21 Integrated (last model) with a similar remote, never use it. A very well designed and implemented amp. Well done Martin. Makes me laugh at those Linn and Naim worshipers.

It is very disinterested in cables. Though I did try some Tellurium Q Black which choked the music and was pleased to loose them.
