I’ve just bought myself a pair of AR 44BX loudspeakers at the third attempt! I remember really liking them when new but finding an un-abused pair with all their original drivers has been a challenge.

I also wouldn’t mind trying a pair of AR9s...

The Power Amp was better still , about six months ago I put an e-bay link for a full AR set including the Cassette and Tuner , Pre and Power and it sold for just £140 .

I have AR6s from the early 70s in my office.

I rescued them from a skip, re-foamed them and replaced the caps.

They never cease to amaze me.

I love hearing the B of the bass and the crack of a rimshot.

My first Hifi speakers were AR4xa, which I preferred to the slightly smaller AR7 and larger AR6.

A nice teak finish with that hessian cloth was very domestically acceptable too.

Would love to hear them today out of curiosity!

My first ‘proper’ separates system consisted of AR pre and power (c-06, p10) with an EB101 t/t.

30 years later I still have the t/t !!

The lad I bought my ‘new’ amps from had a pair of AR9s for sale relatively recently.
