Does anyone know of an SPDIF and Toslink Switchbox

Recommended Posts

I am looking for a simple digital switch box that will accept an SPDIF and TOSLINK inout and then alow you to switch sources to a TOSLINK output . I have done a search on Amazon and Ebay but they keep coming up with TOSLINK switching units which will not work as one source only has an SPDIF and Balanced digital out put but no Toslink . any ideas ?

Take a look at various MUTEC offerings.

These are 'pro' format converters, so may not be cheap.

You could convert the SPDIF output to TOSLINK and then use a TOSLINK switching unit. For example this converter: https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Optical-Cables/Cable-Mountain-Digital-Coaxial-Converter/B001U7GW68/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1548458572&sr=8-4&keywords=spdif+to+toslink

I've just seen your other post regarding a switch box, which was a bit more clear.

How about these? (or do you want/need to use the digital AES/EBU of one of your sources?

I can only apologies I was convinced I had added this to this thread a couple of days ago along with my apology that I had listed a similar request in DIY were this answer  comes from because I though I might have to end up getting this made up for me .

I have bought and I am using this unit and it works very well in my set up . It is not by any means the best build quality but it works very well in my situation I will only very occasionally change the input as only my Wife still plays CD's I just use the Streamer .

After a bit of help in searching for the right description have been able to locate the following which good enough to cover what I need . Include the link here is case there is anyone who needs something similar .
