Your Top 5 Bowie Albums

Recommended Posts

Super Wammer

So I was listening to Scary Monsters just now, thinking to myself this is one of my favourites, which led me to think about my other favourite Bowie Albums. Here's my list (and lets face it it's tricky to whittle this one down):

1. Ziggy Stardust

2. Aladdin Sane

3. Scary Monsters

4. Heathen

5. Hunky Dory

What's your top 5?

If we get a few more results in I may do an overall position based on rankings from each contributor.

I love them all .

Every David Bowie album from the 60s until his death.

The record companies are ripping the A hole out of it now IMO .

I too love Bowie, particularly his work during the 70's.  I have a feeling that my top 5 will be a little different to most folks though.  For a whole host of reasons, Diamond Dogs is my all time #1.

1. Diamond Dogs

2. Aladdin Sane

3. The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust

4. Scary Monsters

5. Station to Station

Hunky Dory is one of my all-time favourite albums.

Others mentioned look good to me.

Not strictly Bowie but....

Tin Machine. Their self-titled album.

Top 5 Dave, how the heck is it possible to narrow them all down to 5? I can honestly say I love all his work, even his more commercial LP's that his record company wanted him to make every once in a while to enable him to make the records he wanted to make, think Let's Dance, Tonight, Never Let Me Down.

Okay I will have a go, but on another day it could be a different 5 depending on my mood, so in no particular order............

1. Blackstar.

2. Aladdin Sane

3. Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.

4.  Outside (The Diary of Nathan Adler).

5. Diamond Dogs.

1: Aladdin Sane

2: Every other Bowie album.

I agree with the above posts. I could never pick a top five, because most are staggeringly different, and staggeringly good.

That's a confession, not an admission. Say three Hail Marys and go to an online seller immediately to cleanse yourself.

Hunky Dory

Aladdin Sane

Ziggy / Space Oddity

Then the others are still excellent but interchangeable until the early / mid 80's, then it all went a bit Meh, until Blackstar.

I seem to be the only person putting Heathen out there.

It is right up there Dave, probably his best since Outside barring Blackstar although Hours is also great. Hell I could easily make a case for them all. Incidentally David Live is a superb live album, maybe not in the quality of the recording but it fair crackles with energy & excitement.
