Best ABBA track and why

Recommended Posts

Great rhythm, bit of moodiness and lovely melody. My vote goes to - The day before you came.

The day before you came its quite a sad song i still think it was about her splitting up from her husband

Maybe it was when they both split up as the video has all four in it with them standing/sitting separately.

I like it - I was hoping they were going to bring another album out when they did SOS

I really like this one too. Much less played and known of the ABBA tracks, and doesn’t usually make it to the best of album selections.

The synthey sounding ABBA tracks are the best imo. I love the bass guitar ABBA use, like on this track, which really drives the melody and rhythm.

Me too as such a great act, but limited album output. A bit of a shame.

I like many of Abba's songs. They had an ability to write songs that get into your head. I sang ' Thank you for the Music' last week, with a guitarist that plays and  sings at get togethers for us support workers and the people that we support. I found this song quite moving, a celebration of music.

I know its not quite the question being asked, but the best album by far is their last 'The Visitors'. Other than a jarring filler track with an awful lead vocal by the blokes on side 2, this is one high quality track after another. Benny and Bjorn really dug deep producing a moody but gorgeously constructed and performed album on the theme of loss. Agnetha's voice has matured by this stage and is given centre stage. An absolute masterpiece.

And for the icing on the cake, the period LP comes with an insert to win a Volvo !
