The guys at Hifi Lounge have been very busy since last years Toys for Boys 2017.

There has been a bucket load of new gear from their well-established product range and some new companies coming on board including McIntosh with their distinctive Big Blue meters. And on top of that, the main man Paul Clark decided to have a real go at motor racing with Radical. So no surprise they were tempted not to have Toys for Boys 2018. Fortunately, they did not give in to this temptation and organised Toys for Boys 2018 on Saturday.

What a cracking day.

Despite a gloomy start, the sun came out and temperature rocketed to 27C. Great weather for a Barbie and guess what, yep a BBQ. A nice salad with lots of sausages and burgers and veggie burgers to keep body and soul intact.

Speaking of soul there was a great collection of sports cars including two Radical racing cars from the track. The number of cars brought by people was more than last year and fortunately, some arrived a little after others left. I counted 7 Porsches and 4 Lotus at one point. Only for the scores to reverse later.

And of course, 3 great sound systems set up for us to listen to plus a room full of headphones with two nice Stax set-ups to get down and personal with.

Lots of great sports cars.

For the sporty guys here is the Radical racing car. Note the number plate. Imagine the look of someone seeing that in their rear-view mirror on the M1!!

I rather liked the look of this one but then I am biased, although mine is in red.

This was system 1 and has the Naim powerhouse with the Wilson Yvettes. I liked this and it had real drive. I wish the Yvette had a higher profile.

And they look mighty fine!!!

Speaker: We speak you obey. What a powerhouse.

System 2. Mainly from over the pond  and a briiliant sound.

Not totally with a UK CD/digital front end.

Classic Big Mac.

These ML speakers look less imposing as they are transparent (in all senses of the word). And there was great integration between the super light speaker and the active bass units. Nice.

All in all a great day.

Didn't know you had to have a dick to enjoy fast cars and hifis. Seriously it's 2018, Toys for Boys!? Playthings for Bellends more like.

Oh dear, are your petals drooping in the sun 😉.

George, looked like a great day, thanks for the write up.

You do NOT. Beleive it or not there were some women there enjoying the cars and hifis and they were talking engineering about the cars. Sorry to shatter your illusions.

Oh and the person cooking was a fella.

The scowling face of ugly big german cars & the knobheads in the driving seat. Tattooed Knobheads in ugly german cars - so 2018.

The more women the merrier but having some self awareness of the choice of title of your event ain't a bad thing. We've moved on from WAF and shit like that, the more people we can get into hifi all the better!

Not my event it was the title chosen by Hifi Lounge. Just a visitor.

The name was probably well chosen, and suited. Personally I'm the wrong nature and character to be much interested in either strand of toy.

I have a very modest sports car but Mrs Fantasque has had some serious transport in her time...... she’s a serious petrol-head.
