Respighi:  Roman Trilogy.

There are numerous recordings of these pieces - this happens to be the one in my collection.

It is a very popular trilogy of pieces, I like very much, hope you do too.

I don't use Spotify or other streaming services so no idea how to set the link up.

Heard a live performance of the 'Pines' in the Auckland Town Hall.  A long time ago but the memory of the occasion was one of a feeling of power.  There is much non-opera Italian music: Respighi - Vivaldi - Rota being my favourites.

Have my version from early 70s on proper analogue vinyl - means a lot to me, a half-Italian with Classics post-grad. academic meaningless Bristol University degree-PG thingies ...

The finest version of "Pines" I've ever heard is this old Karajan one:

I know of no equal to its relentless building of tension in "Pines of the Appian Way" as the legion marches in triumph down it.
