Classical Club album#3 - Scheherazade, Reiner

Recommended Posts

Fritz Reiner sacd, great recording and currently my favourite version.  The Stravinsky piece was new to me, but I enjoyed that too.

It is on Spotify, but I have no idea how to link to that.

Charming stuff - brings back happy childhood memories.
Seems to be loads of Scheherazade recordings around, I've an old one on vinyl which sounds very good.
Should be a good one.:^

I was surprised to find I only have one version of this - Kirill Kondrashin conducting the Concertgebouw.  Maybe I have Gergiev on vinyl.  I have heard this as the music for Ballet and excellent it was too.  Now that I come to think of it, it reminds me just how evocative the music is.

can not find the same release, but appear to have found several choices for the same ''piece''  giving it a second listen at the minute. The first was more than enough to whet the appetite.

Enjoyed that , I'd heard some of it before but would not have been able to put a name to it I'm such a philistine when it comes to classical music.

Dug out my old vinyl version recently & thoroughly enjoyed it, not least the solo violin playing.

Enjoying this very much,  a frequent thought when listening to old favourites is "why don't I listen to this more often?" The answer is, of course, because there's so much lovely music around so there's never enough time. This had great main themes, gorgeous tunes with lots of lovely twiddly bits,  fantastic so well worth a few listenings.

Is there a poll?

I'm a fan of the Reiner recording. For an excellent and more modern rendering, try Gergiev:
