Should have given the charity shop more than a paltry £1 for this immaculate LP...

£1.99 for this perfect cd:

Enjoyable, but not the full score. "Mariinsky Performing Version"

Currently Symphony No4 from this 99p cd from the Heart Foundation.  A composer of whom I have heard nothing before, this is stirring stuff!

The second movement is so beautiful with almost a duet between soprano and violin.

Last night I listened to Delius' Cello Concerto, played by Jacqueline du Pre and Sir Malcolm Sergeant with the RPO.

R-4263524-1360090549-5452.jpeg.jpg

The whole recital is a delight, some of the performances date from the early 60's.

This was just one of a number of classical cds which I was given, some still sealed.

They include Peter Grimes by the LSO, Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, more Du Pre playing Bruch and Brahms, the complete Opus 18 string quartets of Beethoven. English music songs by Butterworth, RVW, Finzi. Prokofiev, Haydn and more.  Many hours of enjoyable listening ahead.

Feeling enamoured of the cello, now listening to Prokofiev's Cello Sonata, (a Naxos free disc coupled with 2 string quartets).
