INTRODUCTION

A very warm welcome to information regarding the Scalford ‘Bake Off’ 2017.  This year has seen a lot of changes to HiFi Wigwam, we have been busy building and launching the new Forum, restructuring the Wammer and Super Wammer membership and overhauling the Dealers and Super Dealers participation.

Our attention has now turned firmly towards the yearly show at Scalford. Over the last few years, attendance numbers have diminished but we are trying to make 2017 the biggest year on record. In order to achieve that we have met with the Scalford Hotel owner, management and event organisers to make sure we ‘pull out the stops’.

Over the years the Scalford  audiophile ‘pilgrimage’ has become one of the most loved and respected gatherings of HiFi hobbyists and enthusiasts and our aim is to make sure that continues and grows. However, these big events need dedicated organisation in terms of people and supporters as well as being able to generate income from sponsors to cover costs and generate profit for future events and upgrades to HiFi Wigwam.

TICKET SALES AND EXHIBITOR BOOKING

Ticket prices are £15 and will be available from the show website (currently being developed).

Traditionally the hotel has had the responsibility of room bookings, cancellations, changes, upgrades etc.

However this year we have a dedicated 2017 Events and Show team that will handle all these issues. Their contact details will be available on the website from 1st November 2016.

Also there will be a booking form to complete on the website for all your requirements. Show site will be live 1st November 2016

Exhibitors may wish to pre book before 1st November in rooms which they have held at previous shows. The hotel have made some changes to the layout and some rooms may not be available however The Events Team will do their best to accommodate every wish.

Please email events@hifiwigwam.com

PARK AND RIDE

In order for this system to work we looked first at what was causing the problems.

Over 200 cars try to squeeze into, around and on the Hotel grounds during the Sunday when the car park only holds 30, is already full with staff, exhibitors, disabled and not to mention the legalities of leaving enough room for emergency vehicles.

We have spoken to the local council in Melton Mowbray and the Wilton Road car park is available to use on the Sunday 19th March 2017

Wilton Road Car Park | Wilton Road | Melton Mowbray | Leicestershire | LE13 0UJ

We have spoken to the local coach company that we use for the 2016 event and are looking to use Central coaches in Melton Mowbray. They will have 2 buses on duty during the day from 09.15am to 17.00pm to collect and pick up to and from the Hotel and Wilton road car park. The cost will be £5 return and there should not be more than a 10 minute waiting time. On the lead up to the event and we feel that another is needed we will add another bus to the route.

Car Park Marshall Staffing:

There will be two Marshals at the Wilton Road car park and another two Marshals at the Hotel.

Hotel Car Park:

The hotel car park will be for EXHIBITOR PARKING & DISABLED PARKING ONLY, and there will be a ‘drop-off and turn space available for the buses. (Last year there were over 30 disabled car badge holders which caused major problems).

NO PARKING WILL BE ALLOWED ON GRASS VERGES OR OTHER AREAS WHICH BLOCK AND RESTRICT THE EVENT

This is the only way we can successfully control the parking issues, unfortunately the hotel has a small car park and the fields around it cannot be used. Special instructions and directions will be available.

ACCOMMODATION AND EXHIBITOR ‘SOUND-A-SLEEP’ ROOMS

This year we have negotiated a total of 39 bedrooms which can be turned into sound display rooms. This is a special part of the hotel organization and this year we have introduced more availability.

‘Sound-A-Sleep’ Rooms – Supplement of £10 on normal room rates

Ground Floor – Bedrooms 200 – 214 Cottesmore Block

First Floor – Bedrooms 220 – 239 Cottesmore Block

(204, 220, 221, 225, 226, 227, 238 and 239 are doubles, rest are twin).

Normal Room Rates:
Single occupancy - £75 per night

Double occupancy - £85 per night

Executive Double - £105 per night

Includes room rate and breakfast.

If you are only staying one night then Sound-A-Sleep rooms must be vacated of luggage

after breakfast in order for the room to be prepared for the show.

EXHIBITION STANDS

This year we have professional exhibition stands available and they will be situated in the main ‘hall’ and in the Pavilion.

All the exhibition panels are covered in a loop nylon exhibition fabric, which unlike the majority of Shell schemes is Velcro compatible, so you can attach any graphics directly to the panels. This includes creating full wall graphics with no gaps as the connecting poles don’t protrude further than the panel fabric.

We can also supply a large range of exhibition accessories such as table, chairs, stages, guide ropes and poles etc.

Prices will be available from 1st November 2016 however should you wish to show your interest then please email events@hifiwigwam.co.uk

SATURDAY SCHEDULE FOR EXHIBITORS ONLY (A Special Evening For Our Members And Exhibitors)

Exhibitors to start arriving from 9am however NO ‘music testing’ will be allowed until 10.30am

Sound-A-Sleep rooms that have been occupied the night before will be available by 11am (in some cases earlier and the cleaning staff have instructions that these rooms will be cleaned as priority).

A ‘light lunch’ menu will be available from 12 – 3pm

When is it?

Mentions that a carpark is available on the 19th March but doesn't actually state if this is when the show is. Very unprofessional.

No we thought we would run a park and ride on a different day to the show

Great news! The only thing that would keep me from going is a funeral....my own!

I was thinking to go as a visitor this time, as I've exhibited at all but one show, but who knows, the urge to show off my stuff might get to me

Hope to see you all next year.

I'll be less of a show virgin next time so am looking forward to managing the ear overload unlike this year. Would love to go on both days and not be rushed!

In the 60s/70s (and beyond) there was a theorem that if everybody in the world (read forum) had positive opinions/thoughts at the same time then nothing negative could invade the world/forum.
