That said, the April date would be just as good for me. Makes no real odds to be honest.

I'm all for the 20th March idea

I think if (as has been mentioned in the other thread) they put on some proper pub grub (experience has proved they can't or won't commit the effort into making a decent curry). Maybe Pie and mash, Cod and chips, and a vegie lasagne as options, done well. lashings of Ale and England v the Cheese eating surrender monkeys at 8pm on a big screen with decent sound quality (please not Stuart Barnes... please.. ). then the hotel will be a winner. Good atmosphere, nice simple food. Happy days.

This.

Fish and chips, watching the rugby, drinking a few wee bevvies and wandering around exhibitor rooms sounds like a perfect Saturday night to me.

<Groan> Could I request Haddock rather than the increasingly scarce Cod though please.

We can have a whale of a time at your plaice, but possibly best to skate over all that.

If you're hard of herring, you may want the fish jokes in whiting.

S.

Did that crab you?

The Welsh will presumably tell us they'll kipper welk ome in the eel side as well.

I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again did all these a good few years ago, but you probably remember that as well as I do :-)

Bill Oddie was a master at those. Yes I do remember them, it's where I get most of my jokes.

I'll now go and iron my goldfish.

S.

Oh ho ho, how I wish

I had myself a pet flat fish

A hake or a halibut

would be very pally but

you hardly ever see a skate

that hasn't been mashed on a plate,

and so I'm

Ironing my Goldfish

Ironing my Goldfish

A big stream iron on his face,

keep on going till I get some plaice

And so I'm Ironing my Goldfish,

smoothing out his surplus fat,

It may seem rather cruel, but it's Oh such fun,

Ironing my goldfish flat.

Why? If both can be accommodated what is the problem?

Bugger, caught the wrong fish. ;-)

The gist of the thread at the time was the Scalford date being dictated by the rugby and I feel that Scalford is more important.

but it looks like both can be accommodated, which is great, win/win.

I still have as one of my most treasured items, an LP of some of the originals.

Still incredibly funny today.

I haven't ..... if we had THE band there, then the whole thing would have just about turned into my perfect date. Without still sounds brill, but with would be

:oj::ale::rockin::oj::party::ale::oj::ale::ale:

Yep, me too

A bit of resurrection needed, but I'm sure we could manage that :nup:
