  5. I need to have a “spring clean” and there will a number of items coming up for sale shortly ! I have been the only owner and purchased it from Deco Audio, Aylesbury, in 2012. The photographs below demonstrate the excellent condition of both the PSU and the amplifier itself. I haven't used it in anger for about two years now but it is still in full working order. This design has very flexible loading and gain adjustment, undertaken using two banks of internal jumpers, one bank for each channel. I have used it successfully with both MM and MC cartridges, including Goldring G1042, Lyra Lydian Beta, Benz Micro ACE SM and Benz Micro Wood SL. In addition, there is a mono switching facility on the back of the unit. The PSU comes with the manufacturer-supplied standard IEC connector and there is a separate 1 metre umbilical connector between the PSU and amplifier, as shown in one of the photographs. The following information is from the manual:- Max Input MC.......................................................................................................................10mV Nominal Input ..................................................................................................................0.1-1mV Max Gain MC input (MM)...........................................................................................73dB (40dB) THD Distortion ............................................................................<0.006% 1kHz - <0.02% 20kHz Signal to noise...................................................................................................-80dB A-Weighted RIAA .........................................................................................................................within 0.25dB Frequency response* ...............................................................................20-100kHz within 0.3dB Stereo separation better than ..............................................................................55dB - 20-20kHz Input Loading MC/MM....................................................................100R with 2n2/47K with 120pF Output impedance ............................................ ............................................................<10 Ohms Nominal output.............................................................................................................100mV - 1V Max output level ...................................................................................9.8v depending upon input Dimensions WxHxL..........................................................................114.5mm x 47.5mm x 160mm Weight.............................................................. .....................................................................3.5kg Power consumption (Max).......................................................................................................3.5W I have a pdf of the manual and will be happy to email it to prospective purchasers. I am looking for £450 plus p/p at cost, although I would much prefer collection from Linslade, Beds, LU7. I could demonstrate then if required. http:// http:// http:// http://
  6. Extremely versatile phono stage with multiple adjustments for gain, impedance, capacitance and equalisation (RIAA/IEC). See specs on 4th image. Balanced XLR and single ended RCA outputs. See review at http://www.simaudio.com/DATA/TEXTEDOC/Hi-Fi-News-UK-201211-310LP.pdf Excellent condition. Just serviced and re-biased by Simaudio Moon UK distributor. Includes original packaging and manual. If you wish to view the manual, please pm your email address and I will send pdf. Original RRP £1490. For sale at £700.
  7. £419 & £20 shipping. In 'as new' condition - hardly used. Here is my World Designs Phono3 (XL version) and PSU3 (with upgraded caps), which I've owned from new, both professionally built by Matthew Snell himself. This particular unit if configured for 47k Ohms and 220pF, so suitable for most MM cartridges (but can be easily changed by replacing 4 components internally). I love the sound of this phono preamp, but simply have no need for it now that I use a Thöress Phono Equalizer. I bought the Thöress very soon after the WD, so this has hardly been used. Is the Phono3 as good as the Thöress? No, of course not. But it comes surprisingly close for a fraction of the cost. From the World Designs website: The Phono3 is an all valve phono stage which matches a wide variety of turntables and cartridges. This standard module utilises all passive RIAA equalisation over two gain stages to offer unparalleled accuracy and freedom from the slew rate limiting of common loop feedback EQ stages. The input can be configured for MM or MC cartridges, the latter via optional wide bandwidth MC step-up transformers. which can provide 10:1 or 20:1 voltage gain to match a wide range of cartridges. Ultra HF EQ is also micro-adjustable, if you have a 'scope, for those who wish to optimise the square wave response. The upgrade XL option includes high performance HT smoothing capacitors, JJ ECC83S valves and Soniqs polypropylene output capacitors for those who want the ultimate in performance. I should have the original packaging lying around somewhere in the attic, but will certainly package the unit well if I can't find it. In 'as new' condition. Feel free to ask any questions. Cheers, Mani.
  8. I am offering for sale my Allnic H-1201 Valve phono stage, something which doesn't come up for sale on the used market very often. I have had quite a few nice phono stage, Tom Evans, Zesto Andros, PS Audio etc and this is certainly one of the best. Here is a nice review. http://www.enjoythemusic.com/magazine/equipment/0114/allnic_h_1201.htm It is securely boxed and comes with a couple of spare valves, I would prefer collection but can post if needs be. ( Insured post should be about £25 mainland UK) Asking £1300
  9. I am considering moving from my current phono stage to something new. I have the Fosgate Signature which is a valve based MC / MM phono. It is darn good, but at the time when I bought it my other amplification was all Solid State. I like to have valves 'somewhere' in the system and hence the Fosgate, but I now have the Ayon Eris linestage that has 6H30 valves. So this is enough valviness and I am thinking of something solid state for the phono stage. I like the idea of a Parasound Halo JC3+ but that is on the outer edge of affordability. I have heard Whest and they are good but again a bit too salty as one goes up the line. Pass Labs definitely too much. So I am considering something like the Rothwell Rialto or one of Graham Slee's efforts. An SUT feeding a MM or even a MM/MC phono stage appeals to me. So the question is: What SUT would be a good match for my low output Benz Wood Cartridge? (http://benzcartridges.com/products/wood-s/ ) The specs of the cartridge are Output Voltage: (3.54 Cm/sec)0.4 (Low) 0.8 (Medium) 2.5 (High) Stylus Shape: Micro Ridge Internal Ohms: 12Ω (Low) 24Ω (Medium) 90Ω (High) Loading Range: >100 (Low) >1000 (Medium) 47kΩ (High) Weight: 9 grams Compliance: 15 (Low) 14 (Medium) 14 (High) TIA

  13. I've been slowly upgrading my analogue set up this year and decided to bite the bullet and build a Bottlehead Eros tube Phono. Having built several of their amplifier kits over the last couple of years they have always sonically delivered the goods the Eros is Bottleheads top of the line phono kit offering and has a very decent reputation for its performance. This will be (I am hoping) very much an end game phono for me. So a few pics of the build progress so far
  14. Highly configurable for MM and MC cartridges; supports balanced or single ended interconnects. Further details can be found here http://www.project-audio.com/main.php?prod=phonoboxrs I bought this new from Analogue Seduction in January 2013 and have the receipt and the original box. I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have. I'm looking for £400. Asking price now reduced to £325, that's a 50% saving over the new price. Many thanks Chris
