    JBL K2 9800

Any comments on the difference between the K2's and the M2's and its monitor variant 4367? The waveguides on these are reported to be marvelous in making 3D imaging. I have never heard any of these JBL's and was curious. I saw that big basket and thought that would make a great looking bass trap. My system is in my living room and I have never seen room treatments/ bass traps that I, or more importantly, the wifey, could live with. Hmmm.
  2. "rolled off the LV’s are in the treble" I had a pair of OBX LV's of this vintage and I can say it had one of the best high ends I've ever heard. Maybe too good as I thought it brought attention to itself. I had a bugger of a time getting them placed properly. They liked the long wall and room between them and the side walls... which it sounds like you have covered. The bass was very finicky in its placement. No advice here except you have to experiment in your room. If you've had over 10 years, I'm sure you have figured out the best placement. I can say it had wonderful bass once placed properly. Something sounds amiss... I would have the xovers checked. Maybe a cap or two has drifted. Maybe a driver has been driven too hard. Do they sound identical? I don't think you should be able to replace these with something better very easily or inexpensively. I wouldn't give up on these. That is, if you have the kind of room that suits them... which is why I moved on.
  3. Me thinks Audio Note gets it right on this subject.
  4. I had a heck or a time trying to get LV's work in my room. Mine loved the long wall, so, your results are surprising to me. Wonderful sounding speaker. Once positioned properly, very sophisticated and responsive to other gear changes.
  5. Good call. Warren was sublime that night. It's been a while... I need to revisit that one. Here's another one of my favorite takes on with an unlikely paring of players including Grace Potter and Joe Satriani. While I'm on the subject- how hot is Grace Potter? You could spend a very pleasant weekend YouTubeing her. And check her out here with none other than Govt Mule/Warren singing a Fleetwood Mac Cover " ".
  6. I have been traveling lately and spending some time listening to Pandora. I have tweaked a station of a line up that includes: White Stripes Black Crows North Mississippi All Stars The Black Keys Government Mule Alabama Shakes If you are/were a Clapton, Stones, Zeppelin and The Who fan like I am/was and you just can't get excited about that music anymore... how many times can you listen to the same LP over and over again for 40 years?? Don't get me wrong, I don't want to be disrespectful and I still love them, but... I can say the above line up is a breath of fresh air. It has a familiar resonance but at the same time is fresh and raunchy. Like good rock should be. And did you notice none of these bands are from England? Just sayin;-).
  7. I don't know if this is possible or makes sense , but: Has anybody replaced the AN Dac transformers with the new triple C core output transformers?
