    JBL L40 speakers for sale

Up for sale are my JBL L40's. Owned for 18 months roughly. I've loved these speakers and can't praise them enough, great dynamics and for me anyway there's just something about the JBL sound. They are in good cosmetic condition, not perfect but I found no need to mess about with them. The cabinets have some marks but nothing that couldn't be sorted easily. (I've tried to show in the photos) They were recently professionally reconed before I bought them. All drivers are in superb condition, the L pads work as they should and they sound fabulous. They have their original bare wire rear terminals still. They come with matching covers though one does have a small hole in it (both have their JBL badges on them). I'd like £375.00 for them. I'm based in Liverpool and can demo to anyone interested. I will not ship them but might consider local delivery if it seals the deal. I'm only letting these go as I've recently moved up to some L50's & can't really keep both. I do travel to see family down south every now and then so maybe that could help anyone Kent / Surrey / london surrounding areas make a decision. Thanks for looking. JBL Lets R-O-C-K

My L50's are now sounding better than ever thanks to a recent service. They went in to have the crossovers recapped but we're also found to have a damaged mid range driver. One lucky eBay search later and a few weeks with my engineer and they are now sounding absolutely wonderful. Sent from my EML-L29 using Tapatalk

Long time no speak Pete, yes all is good thanks. Slow evolution of my system rather than a revolution lol. The JBL sound seems to suit me quite nicely and I'm really rather taken with them. I've still got your old Rotel pre/power in the spare room too! I hope your well mate & enjoying whatever your using these days.

    Where next with speakers?

My reasons for change are that I mainly just fancy trying something new, the ipl's are very good and possibly I will miss them (I have no actual need to sell them and won't rush into letting them go) but I'd also like to see what else is out there. I sometimes find the ipl's a bit wallowy low down and so it would be interesting to find something with a tighter firmer bottom end. I spent a few hours at a local dealer at the weekend and listened to several stand and floor mounters from quad, dynaudio and dali. I'm not sure that anything blew me away but I think the quad S4 was perhaps the closest to what I'm looking for though they were maybe a bit even handed / tame sounding. I'm in no rush to change anything for the sake of it and plan on hearing as much as I can both new and used especially as I'm attending a local bakeoff in a few weeks too.

3D TV users. Worth the upgrade?

I've had a 3d TV for a couple of years now and really enjoy it, some movies obviously make better use of it than others but all the same I will miss it if it does fade out.

    Where next with speakers?

Hi all I'm looking for some advice on some new (to me) speakers. My current IPL TL speakers are great but I've had them about 3 years now and I fancy a change, however im not sure what I should be thinking of auditioning. So here's a few statements on my current set up My room is approx. 5 x 4 m with a 2.8m high ceiling. The speakers will fire down the longer length of the room They will need to function well with minimal space behind them (600mm max maybe). It would be ideal if they were no more than 350mm wide due to constraints of surrounding kit. I am open to the use of floor or stand mount speakers. Ideally they would be visually appealing too. I listen to a wide variety of music from jazz to funk to rock to hip hop and dance. I do not listen at terribly loud levels due to thin walls / neighbours. Id like a realistic presentation with nothing OTT but good soundstage and imaging. Speakers will be used with a big S/S amp (jungson JA88d) initially though this may also change in time. My budget is £800 for new or 2nd hand but must include stands if necessary. If I could find a new speaker offered on a 0% interest deal id happily go north of £1200 but not by much. Sorry if this is all rather general but I guess im just looking for some decent pointers so ive got an idea what to consider. So far been scanning the classifieds and ebay but apart from some local PMC floorstanders I've not seen much that's really floated my boat. Any advise would be much appreciated. Cheers, Ben
