  1. Hi Dom Sorry for not replying sooner - I'm not a regular here these days. Yes, they're still for sale if you're interested - let me know on this thread, or drop me a private message. Cheers Nigel
  2. Hi Batty, thanks for the support. They're damn fine little speakers and have Castle's legendary build quality. Superb budget speakers for a second system or anyone thinking about downsizing.
  3. I've been saving these for a second system but, having decided that's not going to happen anytime soon, I've decided to move them on. They're great little speakers that punch well above their weight, in my opinion. They're in maple and are in superb condition - no chips dings or scratches, just a bit of sun-related fading under the grilles and on the bottom of the speakers (they must have sat on circular stands at some point). They come with their original box and inner packaging. Thanks Nigel

OK thanks. I'll pass as I doubt most of the collection will be of interest.

Hi there, how many ECMs are there in the collection (roughly)? Could you list a sample of the titles available? Thanks Nigel

    Recommendation: Compact CD system?

This cheeky chappy looks quite good: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SONORO-Audio-Cubo-AU-1310-RDS-Radio-mit-CD-schwarz-NEU-/221581471079?hash=item339748ed67:g:AVoAAOSwI~VTzW90 No idea what sound quality is like - it's only mono but maybe that doesn't matter with such a small unit.

    Recommendation: Compact CD system?

Agree with what most people have already said. If there's room for speakers, a Denon or Marantz mini-system is the way to go. They sound great and are very easy to use. If space is a premium, the Roberts all-in-one boxes are a cut above the average and can sound very decent: http://www.johnlewis.com/roberts-blutune-100-dab-fm-cd-bluetooth-radio/p1633351 Then there are the Ruark and Tivoli all in one machines - but they're double the price.

For Sale - Quad 11L: Bird's eye Maple

You need to state a price on the Wam.

    Quadies Unite!

Thanks Jim, I'll drop Quad a line. Tone controls... it will be interesting to see how much I use them as my little Harbeths integrate with the room so well and the tonal balance always seems about right. The nice thing is I can always sell the pre-amp if it's not getting much use.

    Quadies Unite!

Thanks for the warm welcome Chumpy! As you say, it's great kit for relatively little money.

    Sonos Alternatives?

Thanks Craig, I hadn't thought of the YouTube and iPlayer angle but that will be a very handy feature to have.

    Sonos Alternatives?

Thanks for the all the suggestions. I just bought a Chromecast! Top tip: John Lewis will price match the Curry's £15 deal (in fact, JL claimed their in-shop price was £15 anyway, even though the it said £30 on the shelf). In the absence of a suitable iPhone, I'm hoping this will do the trick: https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/6279396?hl=en . In any case, hope to have a newer, Chromecast compatible iPhone by the end of the year. For £15 it seems like a complete no-brainer.
