XLR listening test into ATC 40 actives

I have these but have not compared to any other XLR cable. I enjoy what I hear. Sent from my BND-L21 using Tapatalk

I like the way you've snuck in a linn Ds to your set up :-) .... I must have missed that .... Did you comment on your experiences with the linn in another thread as I would be interested to hear about it's impact ... Sent from my BND-L21 using Tapatalk

    Impressions of KEF LS50?

Cnos beat me to it :-) Unfortunately they don't make them anymore. One of mine was accidentally knocked over and smashed .... I'm sure I have a photo somewhere ..... Sent from my BND-L21 using Tapatalk

    Impressions of KEF LS50?

Nice work nopiano - I used to have mine on a pair of glass Atacama stands filled with coloured pebbles ..... Looked great (imo) and came with a wife approval rating .... Sent from my BND-L21 using Tapatalk

    Musical fidelity massive!!!!!

So sorry Cno - I should have been more specific ... If you had the choice which one would you go for based on your experiences with the ams and what you heard with the nv800? I ask as I assume the ams is your benchmark as you wrote quite highly of it during the WHF days .... Apologies once again ... I was being lazy (I'm hungover). Cheers, Sent from my BND-L21 using Tapatalk

For the avoidance of doubt, I just wanted to say the speakers are amazing but sound different compared to the PMC ... I have to decide on whether the different sound is something I can get used to .... Sent from my BND-L21 using Tapatalk

Not right now, I've got a headache No really I have .... So hungover .... I fully get the variables are so varied and I'm comfortable with that. The pre was the linn akurate (DSM?) For you, TheFlash here is the conclusion from my perspective: Amazing clear mids, Amazing dynamics, Amazingly clear, Bass improved but does not compare to the PMC which I prefer, Not as airy sounding as the PMC - its more precise and I prefer airy (appreciate the PMCs may be 'tuned' this way and I'm comfortable with that), They had the ability to disappear - the music appeared as if it wasn't coming from the speakers. I've asked for a home demo :-) .... I fully get they will sound so different in my room and my dac / pre. Sent from my BND-L21 using Tapatalk

That's one of the reasons why I chose the track. You can also hear the band settling in to position and someone turning a page - perhaps a score ..... I was waiting excitedly for the bass drum to kick in .... At home in the PMC I can feel it and it envelopes you but it's balanced ..... But in the ATC it was a lot tamer, dryer, taut and less there .... The soundstage was narrow and felt congested in the centre .... I listened to a few more tracks and then asked the dealer to move the speakers further apart, a little closer to the front wall, and toed in facing my shoulders .... Without judgement I started again, this time playing some D'Angelo Voodoo - Send It On ....... Sent from my BND-L21 using Tapatalk

Hi, I'll give a piecemeal update while I'm going about my day. The speakers were positioned around 2.5 to 3 metre away - well away from the front solid wall and 2 metres apart. The toe in was in line with the listening position so the apex of the imaginary triangle would cross my face .... It is more than I am accustomed to as I prefer the speakers aiming past my shoulders as I find this decongests the centre stage. The speakers were being controlled by a linn akurate with tidal providing the music. I kicked off with Elbow - Mirrorball..... Sent from my BND-L21 using Tapatalk
