Good use of curtains as acoustic panels :-) Out of interest, nopiano, have you experimented moving the speakers further apart and did it make any difference / improvements? I also notice you have decoupled the speakers from the floor with some slabs - I've done the same and with great affect .... Although I notice you haven't used the speaker spikes on the slab ... Is this a conscious decision or does it simply boil down to the fact that the slab area is too small. Just asking out of interest if you don't mind :-) Sent from my BND-L21 using Tapatalk

    Laskys and Tandy

Laskys - wow! That's a blast from the past. I think I was around 9 when my dad purchased a commadore Amiga 500 for me. I only got into hifi when I was around 14 - no purchasing just reading what hi fi at the local library and by that point Laskys hasd gone bust ... Sent from my BND-L21 using Tapatalk

Anyone dealt with Unilet Hi Fi?

A positive experience with Unilet. Sorry to hear about your eBay outcome ... That would piss me off. Never found them pushy .... Sent from my BND-L21 using Tapatalk

RME ADI-2 DAC vs Chord Qutest

Thanks. So one could adjust using ears rather than a mic (appreciate this method isn't very accurate) Or I could use a mic with Dirac or rew - adjust the frequency and send / upload to the rme? What if I don't have a mic or software .... I guess I'm back to manual ear based adjustments? To do this properly I need: A umik mic Software - Dirac or rew Measure sound in room using aforementioned items Adjust frequency to make it flat as possible Load frequency curve into rme ??? Or I use a minidsp which is a permanent fixture in my system: nas, DAC, minidsp, amp ??? Thanks, Sent from my BND-L21 using Tapatalk

RME ADI-2 DAC vs Chord Qutest

So I've been following all posts in relation to the rme DAC with particular interest in the eq settings. Having toyed around with eq settings in the Synology DS app to positive effect, I wanted to pursue this area further. The area being room calibration, DSP, etc. So I'll start with the silly questions first: What is the difference between the eq settings in the rme DAC Vs the configuration options in minidsp? The only 2 I can think of are: the mdsp is more accurate due to a mic being used to set up at the listening position; and there are more configuration options in mdsp. The eq setting in the rme are applied by listening so youre effectively trying to find the ideal curve giving you a flat response. Is there a mini DSP equivalent that can be used between a DAC and an integrated amp: NAS to DAC using usb, DAC to DSP using XLR, dsp to amp using XLR? I guess what I'm asking in a round about way, how effective is the room correction function in the rme Vs minidsp ? Hope I'm not hijacking the thread .... Kub. Sent from my BND-L21 using Tapatalk

DAC Off Part 2: Qutest vs RME ADI-2 DAC

You guys have a lot of time on your hands. Does innuos offer an equaliser type function in their app / software? Sent from my BND-L21 using Tapatalk

    NAS me peeps!

I've had my Nas drive for 8 years. It's a Synology 212 and I use it purely for storing and accessing music - I'm sure there is a lot more it can do. 1TB is enough for me - I've got 100s of CDs not 1000s - all of them copied using dbpoweramp software in FLAC format. I don't have a copy or a fail safe set up .... The Nas hasn't failed on me yet .... Although strangely I wouldnt mind if it did as I quite enjoyed ripping my CD collection. I like the idea of using a USB hardrive .... That didn't occur to me at the time and back then all the talk of streaming music was from a Nas as the benefit was that it was always on and music was accessed immediately. Set up was straightforward. Looking forward in hearing your thoughts on the Cambridge. Sent from my BND-L21 using Tapatalk

DAC Off Part 2: Qutest vs RME ADI-2 DAC

Thanks for your response. Could you please break it down futher: Download software on laptop Connect microphone to laptop Connect laptop to hi fi (how) Play test tones Am I on the right path here? So how and where does the software sit in the chain if, let's say, I used jriver ....? Is the Nas then connected to an intermediary running the equalisation before going to the DAC? How?
