in the mid 80s the quality of vinyl sucked . the max time for good quality is 30 mins , with minium compression applied . The addition of adding more tracks and thinner vinyl was a big issue. the quality of fono stages was very poor too. The cost of packaging rose too. But it keeps on going .. Now quality of vinyl is very good and both turntables /phono stages are far better . it is interesting that you do see more young ones in record shops listening to analogue seems to be more fun than digital. high rez audio is A CON.
