Game of Thrones! Fuck yeah man

12 posts in this topic

I was late to the party, but man, this is a good show. I normally frown on fantasy type stuff (I hate that dragonlance type bullshit) and mistakenly assumed it was some sort of nonsense like "blood and sand" (which i found about as interesting as a splatter film...high on gore, low on redemptive value)

but this has a very good plot and outstanding acting. (the little shit Peter Dinklage is awesome)

Check it out, do.

Game of Thrones is excellent, and Dinklage (incidentally the sole American in the main cast) is outstanding. For a musical connection, watch out for Wilko Johnson as Ser Ilyn Payne.

George RR Martin seems to be determined that the series of novels will go on forever, so there could be a few more seasons yet. :^

Our elder daughter brought back a bootleg version of Season 1 from the Far East. The bits that worked worked well (what can one expect for tuppence-ha'penny, or whatever she paid?). Certainly Peter Dinklage is outstanding, and, ignoring the fact that he's the right height, the perfect realisation of the character in the books.

Late to the party, as usual:) Welcome to the wonderful world of old Europe, TR! Now, there's actually a game that is called football and played with your feet and a ball :P Game of Thrones and George R.R. Martin's series is great (although his last two books are a far cry from the first three).

...In spite of the fact that he seems to have modelled his accent on Victor Meldrew. His self-appointed henchman Bronn is very good too, played by blast-from-the-past soldier soldier Jerome Flynn.

Victor Meldrew

Who???? I thought. So I looked him up - and was none the wiser. Hi, ho, I'll just have to take him like that.

Just been introduced to this by my son, having been "meh" about sword and sourcery except for Pratchett and Tolkien.

5 episodes in, off to watch two more tonight, it does make reasonable use of the evenings given the rainy summer we are having....all family sitting together and enjoying it, cliches, porn, gore and all. Great show!
