Will I notice any difference burning music onto CD rom or DVD rom

5 posts in this topic

Will their be any difference in quality burning from my DVD and CD rom.All I have read is that DVD players don't sound as good, and does the cost of the drive matter much.I'm just using the stock ones LG multi layer burner new and some cd from around 2003 about £30 each.

Thanks for any advice

Are you burning CDs, or just CD-ROMs of music files? If you are burning CDs to play in an old-fashioned CD player, then use the CD drive and burn at the lowest speed. Doesn't affect the sound, but much less likely to get the dreaded "nO dISC" message.

If you are burning data discs, it won't matter.

A home CD player won't read a DVD-ROM, surely?

If you are burning a disc of files (mp3, FLAC or whatever) it won't matter.

If you are burning an Audio CD, then it might.
