wow...nice mix!
I like Adelaide BTW, stayed there once for 2 months or so in the late 70's...is it still a 'low rise' city?

Bikers have a huge advantage - bhp/lb. The lightest of specialist cars still weigh in around 500kg, three times that of the bike, so would require at around 3 times the power. It can be done and (credit to anyone riding a high-powered bike) is more easily controlled in a car.

Launching a high-powered bike is an art. I used to ride a tweaked 1992 GSXR1100 which would wheelie in second and third gear with very little provocation - getting it off the line in a hurry and keeping the front wheel on the ground simply wouldn't happen. The best launches were those where the front wheel would 'hover' a few inches off the ground, with me almost out of the seat and leaning forward to keep as much weight over the front as possible. Then the rear tyre would light up instead... You can buy one of these, now, for around £2k.
