WTD: Cheap DAC for computer set-up

10 posts in this topic

Been busy these few weeks. Now faced with a move to London and smaller accommodation. So the big speakers and all the lovely LPs will be going into storage... *sniff

Currently scouting around for a cheap DAC as the new system will probly be computer-based. Might make me listen to more different types of music as well. Amp will be my trusty Decware SET and speakers DIY Fostex 167.

So any suggestions for a DAC welcome.

Ta,

JJ

VALAB USB DAC from eBay, or the SuperPro 707: both cheaper and just as good/better with upgradeable power supplies.

If you've got an old Mini Disc deck lying around, then these make great DACs - for any digital source. Simply connect your PC (via coax or optical to it) and the MD deck to your amp. Select the correct input on the MD deck and then press 'Record' with no disc in the unit. Job done.
