It's fantastic!

The best thing ever made, it will be great with your LVs in the kitchen system.

If I buy you one can I have that old pre-amp you won't be needing?

Yes Neil, as far as I can tell, they do. Put it this way - I've hardly heard or read a word against it. Don't get me wrong - separates beat it sonically but it sounds very good driving a pair of Allaes and, for a one-boxer, its sheer versatility is something to behold.

That said, I do have a couple of caveats that, I must admit, get in the way of me actually wanting one for myself...

  1. It appears to demand a lot of power when on standby, so it won't do your electricity bill too many favours, IMO.
  2. If it's on for long enough it does run hot, which is unusual for Naim kit, IME. Mind you, I've noticed there does seem to be a trend here with some of their more recent kit, as I recall the HDX doing this too.

For the price I thought it sounded pretty good.

I am still waiting to hear one, it may well be the solution I go for when the time comes. :^

Be sure to get the Naim speakers to go with it!

I went to a Naim open-evening sesh at my local dealer a few weeks back.

They played the Uniti and then went up the scale a bit in terms of CDP and amps.

Def improvements were to be had in terms of rez and image and tonal fullness and articulation - mainly articulation actually - as they went up the ££££ scale. I think the full-out rig was circa £50k.

But even this crazed Naim-Hater thought the Uniti was excellent value!:dunno:

Shame that they were all played thru Naim's latest floorstander so everything was bright and screechy. IMO YMMV :)

Funny because I don't sign up to the view that Naim is expensive but I've heard it several times - it sounds fine - but is it meant to be a 2nd system - a sort of super Denon mini - in which case £2K??

Regards,

Lindsay
