Angie Palmer

4 posts in this topic

went to see the superb angie palmeron friday night at out local (ish) venue. It only holds around 120, but it was full to the rafters. Its the 4th time we have managed to get to see her, normally it is just angie, plus guitar, and richard curran, with his fiddle and mandolin. This time is was the full band (will have to sort out who was who). Absolutley superb show, with a assortment of tracks from her last 3 albums these being Road, Tales of light and darkness, and meanwhile as night falls.

I have tried to place her music into a box a few times, and failed, the nearest I can get is folk rock, but may be its rockabilly or bluegrass. Whatever it is, it is a fantastic evening of live music, and well worth the usually low entrance charge to for couple of hours of superb live music.

You have mentioned Angie Palmer a few times Colin so I thought I should check her out. Finding new artists is brilliant especially when they have a bit of a back catalogue to discover.

Cool website by the way!

She is not playing down this way until October but I will definitely get along to see her then, in the mean time, which album to start with?

Either Road or tales, to use angie's description from Friday night, my new CD is the third, well its really the 5th but I don't count the first two 'cos in comparison they are crap. The best way 'in' is probably raod, tales, then edge.

Damn, I forgot to go to see her at the Ironworks earlier this month. She often plays at fairly short notice in the Hayloft at the Stickle Barn Tavern at Great Langdale during the summer so if you're planning a weekend in that neck of the woods it's worth checking out.
