(Reach out and) I'll Be There - but you knew that ;-)

"The Horse" should be humanely slaughtered and sent to the glue factory !

The glue would only remain sticky if all its rider demands were met.

In my youth, I would have. Any thing, any where, any time.

However, now I feel a bit ill.

It all went wrong with the Tommy Mottola union, if indeed it ever went right.

2192-pm5.jpg

after the first week, some initial impressions are here:

they really know how to make good amps in japan back in the days. this sounds sooo much better than anything produced in the UK at the same time (early 80s) i've had a chance to hear - nait 2, exposure XV, magnum 125, mission cyrus 1&2 etc. lush & melodic presentation, plenty of natural tone and rather good dynamics for pure 20 watts in class A. not far from first watt F3 in the way it keeps the flow of music...

it can't compete of course with my tube amps however for the price it goes s/h, pm-5 (just as any other marantz esotec amp) can be a game stopper for everyone reasonable in this hobby. i can imagine a variety of speakers working really well with, from big tannoys to smaller proac & harbeth types....

the only problem is i actually don't need it so only time will tell what i gonna do with it....
